Our take
I needed a replacement base for my old Waring blender, and this 1174 model fits the bill. With 7 speeds, I have much better control than the basic models. The 32 oz glass jar handles most tasks. It chops, purees, and crushes ice adequately. The base feels sturdy. However, it's a commercial-style unit that can be noisy. Also, the warranty is not included, so you're on your own if it fails. For a budget-friendly option, it's decent.
